The Importance of Water Safety

As a dad, I know that making sure my kids are happy, comfortable and safe is one of my most important responsibilities in life. It’s something that is on my mind every day. At Goldfish, we know firsthand how important water safety is for kids of all ages and also how crucial it is that children learn to be safer in a nurturing environment.

Everything at Goldfish has been designed with kids in mind. Bright colors to stimulate learning and a 90-degree pool to increase comfort. We have private changing rooms, swimsuit dryers and hair drying stations so no one has to go outside cold and wet. We produce our chlorine on-site via a specialty salt water purification system that allows us to keep the pool safe and clean, while being gentle on kids’ skin. We know how important those things are to kids and families.

Teaching kids to be safer in and around the water has always been our number one goal. Here’s a startling fact to consider: According to the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children ages 1 to 4.

Scary, I know. But these statistics are preventable, and it all starts with swim lessons. The earlier you can start, the better – yes, even infants can take lessons!

Goldfish was created by parents, for parents, with the goal of helping kids build essential swim skills to keep them safer in and around the water. But our program does more than that – it gives kids a platform to build life skills that help them make waves in life. We use our research-based philosophy, The Science of SwimPlay®, to teach through guided play in a fun, safe environment. So while we’re focused on the serious stuff, kids are focused on the fun.

The water can (and should) be a place for family fun. But keep in mind that accidents can happen quickly. Constant supervision and basic water safety skills will make for a safer experience for everyone.
